Many believe that since they run Windows at work or on their home PC, they must also choose a webhost that is running Windows on their web servers for its hosting. The operating system you run on your own PC, has nothing to do with which system your webhost is running on their web servers.

Linux or windows hosting? The answer to this question will depend on who you ask, even though most experienced web administratorer would recommend a Linux-based web hosting. But recently, Windows has increased its popularity, which has meant that we have chosen to offer Windows-based hosting in addition to Linux. Much of this progress is due to increased use of ASP and above. NET technology introduced by Microsoft. We support both ASP, ASP.NET and ASP.NET 2.0 &. NET 3.0, .NET 4.5 and FrontPage. FrontPage is nonetheless something that will be phased out by Microsoft and that in the future will not be supported. Are you going to use ASP, ASP.NET or ASP.NET 2.0, NET 3.0 & NET 4.5 so you have to choose Windows.

There are ASP support for Linux, but this is not adequate and far from equally reliable, so we have chosen to not offer this. We run the latest Windows Server version, Windows Server 2003, which has proven to be a very stable and good solution, which is recommended for those who want Windows-based hosting.

What you should choose depends on what you want to use on your web space. If you wish to use PHP technology, we recommend Linux-based hosting where you can take advantage of PHP5. This is because Linux has proven to be most stable, and because most PHP applications have been developed and tailored for a Linux / Unix server environment. On Linux platform, we also provide java / jsp support and much much more.

Our subjective recommendation is, if you do not want to use ASP, ASP.NET or ASP.NET 2.0, 3.0 4.5 using a Linux hosting. These have proven to be most stable, and that you get several good solutions with the purchase. In addition, these packages are cheaper. Another important point is that the vast majority of free scripts available, designed for Linux and you will have better support for this. We support both PHP4 and PHP5, which itself can be selected easily in our control panel, you can run both versions simultaneously if desired. Fastline is concerned about security, we offer not SSH access to our servers. All communication and publishing web pages is done only via FTP and FTP SSL. Safest is FTP with SSL, then all communication is encrypted.

Both Windows and Linux platform supports all of our database solutions: MySQL, PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL.

But we Fastline recommends customers to use Linux hosting as long as one only has regular html web pages or using PHP, Linux is faster and cheaper for you as a customer. If you want to use the forum, cms and crm solutions, there are many free and wonderful solutions for Linux hosting.
